Welcome to the best cannabis gummy recipe in 2023! It’s the year of the weed gummy revolution, and I’m here for it.

I love THC gummies so much that I officially made them my new boyfriend of 2023 (hear more about how that happened this week in the Wake + Bake Podcast episode: Cannabis for Breakups?).

Unlike finding a boyfriend in your late 30’s, making edibles recipes has never been easier (zing!).

This cannabis gummy recipe has been one of our most popular edibles recipes for over 6 years, so it has stood the test of time (unlike the boyfriends you meet in your late 30’s… buh dum chhhh… okay, I’ll stop now).

Before we get started, let’s take a look at what you need to make sure your cannabis gummy recipe comes out perfectly delicious every time.

Edibles Recipes: The Best Cannabis Gummy Recipe in 2023 - Wake and Bake (1)

If you didn’t already know, I love Pinterest (If you love Pinterest, follow Wake + Bake here).

And the people of Pinterest love this cannabis gummy recipe. They’ve been pinned tens of thousands of times since 2017 and it’s no wonder why.

Cannabis gummies are the best.

This cannabis gummy recipe is perfect for cannabis enthusiasts who want to enjoy the benefits of cannabis without having to smoke or vape.

All you need are a cannabis tincture (you can also use cannabis coconut oil or cannabutter) fruit of your choice and gelatin.

This is a whole food gummy that is paleo and keto friendly. It’s made with whole fruit and no artificial ingredients. On the downside, they aren’t shelf stable and need to be refrigerated. Mine lasted for about two weeks.

If you’re looking for a gummy made with fruit juice that lasts a little longer check out this post: How To Make Weed Gummies.

You can customize this cannabis gummy recipe by adding any type of cannabis concentrate such as FECO, rosin, bubble hash, or organic full spectrum CBD oil.

If you want to make cannabis gummies with a higher potency, you can use cannabis concentrates in place of the cannabis tincture (see the section on concentrates below).

Buying THC Gummies Online

If you don’t have the time, don’t want to deal with the mess, or just want relief without all of the work, you can now buy hemp-derived THC gummies online.

As of the time of this writing, you can buy THC gummies online in the US if they are:

  • made from hemp
  • are farm bill compliant
  • have 0.3% THC content
  • are third party tested

The problem with most THC gummies is that they are made with artificial ingredients and dyes which can be unhealthy in the long run, not what you want from your medicine.

If you want to buy weed gummies online, make sure they meet the criteria above. This THC gummy meets those criteria and then some (it’s also made using organic ingredients and is enhanced full spectrum) and is the one I eat every day.

You can learn more about how hemp-derived THC is made in the Wake + Bake Podcast episode: Is Hemp-Derived THC Bullsh*t?

If you don’t want to buy a gummy online and you’re looking for edibles recipes to save money and control ingredients, there are tons of great cannabis edibles recipes available now, especially for cannabis gummies.

Benefits of Cannabis Gummies

Cannabis gummies offer several benefits. If you’ve never tried a weed gummy recipe before – or you’ve never tried a THC gummy – let’s talk about how cannabis gummies can be different than smoking, vaping and other edibles recipes.

Edibles Recipes: The Best Cannabis Gummy Recipe in 2023 - Wake and Bake (3)

Cannabis Gummies (and all edibles recipes) last longer and are more potent

For most people, cannabis edibles are much more potent than cannabis smoked or vaped. This makes cannabis gummies ideal for cannabis patients who need a sustained release of cannabis over time.

Cannabis gummy bears are discreet and easy to transport

If you’re looking for something on the go, cannabis gummies can ride along in your pocket anywhere you want to go.

This weed gummy recipe is great for microdosing

If you are sensitive to THC, or if you prefer microdosing cannabis, making a weed gummy recipe could be a game changer. Making low-dosed edibles like gummies can be a great way to figure out the perfect dosage.

I was inspired to micro-dose these cannabis gummy bears because of this really good point made by Joe Rogan:

Joe Rogan: “How much should I eat of this pot gummy?”

Budtender: “JUST THE LEG!”

While it’s funny, Mr. Rogan’s commentary rings so true.

As a cannabis educator who writes about edibles, I hear so many stories about people getting feel-like-I’m-gonna-die high from one pot brownie recipe.

I also hear from people who avoid edibles entirely because they never know what the effects will be. They tell me they hate the feeling of couch lock, paranoia, and/or brain fog.

While a high dose of THC is what some people need in order to alleviate their symptoms enough to feel good or as a doctor recommendation, many people have found better results using cannabis using much less than they think they need to.

There’s science behind why small amounts of THC may work better for many people, especially those who haven’t been consuming THC for years – and who haven’t yet built up a tolerance.

I try to make this weed gummy recipe land at about 1-2mg each of THC and CBD.

You can find out more about microdosing, ratios and dosage in this post.

But you can also make very this THC gummy recipe very strong

On the flip side, by using cannabis concentrates or heavily infused cannabis tinctures, you can make this THC gummy recipe very strong.

Edibles Recipes: The Best Cannabis Gummy Recipe in 2023 - Wake and Bake (5)

Because concentrates and tinctures can be packed with cannabinoids, even small amounts can contain 10, 50, or even 100+mg of THC.

For example, if your concentrate is 80% THC, that means it contains 800mg of THC in one gram. If you spread that out over this weed gummy recipe and it yields 80 gummies, each gummy will be 10mg of THC.

Depending on how big your gummy is, and what kind of concentrate you use, you can make this weed gummy recipe contain 5-50mg THC per gummy.

How to make weed gummies with tinctures

Cannabis tinctures are extremely versatile and convenient cannabis products. They’re made by soaking cannabis in a high-proof alcohol, like grain alcohol or vodka, for a few weeks.

The cannabis can then be strained out of the alcohol and the cannabis liquid that remains is your cannabis tincture.

The beauty of cannabis tinctures is that you can use them in a variety of recipes, from cannabis candy recipes to cannabis co*cktail recipes.

Edibles Recipes: The Best Cannabis Gummy Recipe in 2023 - Wake and Bake (6)

When you’re learning how to make weed gummies with cannabis tincture, all you need to do is mix the cannabis tincture into your gelatin mixture before adding it to the molds.

I’ve also dosed them individually by mixing in a few drops in each one and stirring with a toothpick. This is a slow process, but can be done if you want to make one batch of cannabis gummies with different dosages.

How to make weed gummies with cannabis concentrates

Using cannabis concentrates to make cannabis gummies is a great way to get strong cannabis edibles without having to use cannabis tinctures or cannabis oil.

All you need are some cannabis concentrates, like rosin, FECO or bubble hash and your favorite kind of gelatin. Most concentrates need to be decarboxylated prior to being used in edibles.

If you want to make CBD gummies, you can also use CBD kief (which is a hash made from sifting the trichomes from the plant). I love the flavor and versatility of using CBD kief in recipes.

See the cannabis gummy recipe card below for tips on how to use cannabis concentrates in edibles recipes.

How to make weed gummies with oil or canna butter

If you want cannabis gummies with cannabis oil or cannabis-infused butter, it is possible. Using cannabis coconut oil or cannabutter will result in a different flavor and texture, but it’s possible.

All you need to do is mix it into your heated gelatin mixture before adding it to the weed gummy molds.

You can easily make this recipe with an organic full spectrum CBD tincture as well. Using a tested premade CBD or THC oil make this cannabis gummy recipe very easy to dose.

Do you need to add lecithin to this weed gummies recipe

Yes and no.

Adding lecithin to cannabis gummies helps the cannabis oil or cannabis tincture bind with the gelatin better, resulting in a stronger weed gummy bear that won’t fall apart easily. Lecithin in edibles can also potentially help with the bioavailability of cannabinoids.

However, it’s not necessary for this cannabis gummy recipe and you can definitely make this weed gummy recipe without lecithin.

I’ve made this weed gummy bear recipe with and without lecithin, and both versions have turned out great!

How to Make Weed Gummies

In a saucepan, combine the following ingredients over medium-low heat:

2/3 Cup Pureed Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries or Blueberries (if using frozen berries, let them thaw first) [If you have juice and you’d rather use that than the pureed berries, go for it! Just increase the Gelatin by about 1/2 Tablespoon]

1/3 Cup Water

1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

2 Tablespoons Honey (or maple syrup or other sweetener)

Add:

2-3 tsp Cannabis Tincture (depending on dosage)

Slowly whisk in:

3 Tablespoons Grass Fed Gelatin

Keep whisking until smooth and all ingredients are incorporated. Turn off heat. Using a dropper, fill your silicon mold with your gummy mixture (you could also a pan lined with parchment paper if you’re in a pinch).

Allow to cool for about 15-30 minutes in the fridge.

Prep Time: 30 minutes minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes minutes

Equipment

  • 1 Ardent Decarboxylator and Infuser optional - for decarbing concentrates or plant material

  • 1 Weed Gummy Molds

Ingredients

  • 2/3 Cup Pureed Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries or Blueberries if using frozen berries, let them thaw first, rinse and drain
  • 1/3 Cup Water
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tbsp Honey or maple syrup, or sweetener of your choice - to taste
  • 2-3 Tbsp Cannabis Tincture depending on desired dosage. You can also use concentrates, infused coconut oil, or full spectrum CBD oil
  • 3 Tbsp Grass Fed Geletin

Instructions

  • In a saucepan over medium-low heat combine berries, water, lemon juice, and honey (or other liquid sweetener to taste)

  • Add tincture, concentrates, infused coconut oil, or full spectrum CBD oil and whisk to combine

  • Slowly whisk in grass fed gelatin

  • Keep whisking until smooth and all ingredients are combined. Turn off heat.

  • Using a dropper, fill your silicon mold with your gummy mixture (you could also a pan lined with parchment paper if you're in a pinch).

  • Allow to cool for about 15-30 minutes in the fridge or a few hours at room temperature.

  • Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Notes

Decarboxylating THC and CBD: In order to activate your plant material, you'll want to put your plant material or concentrates through the process of decarboxylation before infusing them in alcohol or oil. I use an Ardent Decarboxylator to decarboxylate everything from cannabis flower to concentrates. You can also make cannabis coconut oil and cannabutter right in the device if you want to make this weed gummy recipe using cannabis oil or butter.

Make a non-infused batch first:I recommend you make one *non-infused* test batch of cannabis gummies before trying with thc or CBD to ensure you like how it turns out.

Storage: This recipe is perishable, so only make what you can eat and share in about a week. You can also add preservatives, and anti-mold agents, but for health reasons I avoid additives.

Dosing your edibles: Always use the edibles dosage calculator before you step in the kitchen to calculate the dosage of your edibles. It will keep you from having a batch that is too strong or too weak and you'll have a better idea of what to expect from your cannabis gummies.

Much love,

Corinne
